Fostering a Cat
At Byfleet Cat Rescue, we rely on the kindness of our community to open their homes and hearts to cats in need. Our fostering model gives cats a safe, loving space to decompress and rebuild trust before finding their forever homes.
All food, litter, medication, and accessories are provided — so you just need a spare room where the cat can feel secure. You’ll join a wonderful community of experienced fosterers who offer advice, friendship, and support. We even hold regular get-togethers, making it a truly rewarding group to be part of.
Safety is key: we ask that foster homes are well-secured, as cats can be expert escape artists! New fosterers receive a training crib sheet, and our team is always available around the clock to help.
Fostering can be life-changing — for the cats and for you. Some people foster continuously, while others fall in love and “foster fail,” giving their foster cat a forever home — which is always a happy ending.
If you’d like to find out more, please email adoptions@byfleetcatrescue.co.uk with a photo of your living area and ID, and we’ll send you a form to get started.
💛 Thank you for helping us help so many cats across Surrey and the surrounding areas.
Our Long-Term Foster Cats
Some of our cats are simply too special to move on again — whether due to age, ongoing medical needs, or a challenging history, these wonderful companions have found their forever homes with our dedicated long-term fosterers. While they may not be available for adoption, they still rely on the kindness of our supporters to cover their food, care, and veterinary costs. By sponsoring one of our long-term foster cats, you’re helping to give them the comfort, love, and security they deserve for the rest of their lives.

Mouse
Hello my name is Mouse and I am around 12 years old.
I arrived here at the Felix Sanctuary on 1st August 2025 when my owner sadly passed away. My owners family member was very upset that she was unable to offer me a home, but that’s ok as I am enjoying myself here with my new friends. I do have a safe place under mums bed for when I feel a bit unsure as I am still very new here.
Once I arrived BCR and my family member agreed for me to have some blood tests done as I was a little underweight. I was SO brave at the vets and let them do their job with no trouble at all. My tests results show I had a Thyroid problem which requires me to have medicine twice a day with my food. This proves very expensive to BCR but they will continue to provide my new mum with this for as long as necessary.
I absolutely love cuddles and making biscuits with my new human family. They tell me I am such a handsome young man and that they love me very much. I have several teeth missing which means I drool a lot but mum says that just adds to my charms!
I am also on sensitive food like my buddy Gizmo. Between the two of us we cost BCR a small fortune which means they have to do lots of fundraising for us.

Gizmo
Hello my name is Gizmo and I am 18 years old.
I came to live at the Felix Sanctuary at the end of March 2025 due to no fault of my own. My owners had separated and my human mum was unable to financially look after me. They were kind people as they adopted me at the young age of 14 years!!
When I arrived I was a little nervous but was keen to look around my new home and meet my new friends. So keen that after only a few hours I was trying to break out of my new mums bedroom. Mum gave in let me out to explore the house.
As the days went on I found my feet and was soon getting into lots of trouble and mischief. I love to climb, despite the vet saying I have stiff back legs!!. Food is definitely my favourite thing in the WHOLE wide world. Sometimes mum and Alfie only let me have 3 meals a day…..shocking!!
Sadly though the food I was on upset my tummy and I was a bit poorly. Luckily BCR got me straight to the vets and got me all fixed up. Now I have to have special sensitive food which costs a small fortune but everyone thinks I am worth it.
Mum says I am a true gentleman, handsome, loving, affectionate and just a general love bug.

Popcorn
Hello my name is Popcorn and I am 14 years old.
I arrived at the Felix Sanctuary on the 23rd December 2024. I was the first of many foster kitties.
Sadly my elderly owners both had Dementia and I was left to fend for myself at times. I was very skinny when I arrived and despite me eating everything in sight, and I mean EVERYTHING, I was not gaining any weight. Mum spoke to BCR and they immediately got me into see the vet. I was NOT a fan of the kind loving vet!!! So had to be sedated so they could take some of my lovely blood.
My results came back as having Diabetes. I am now on medication once a day and mum checks my ketone levels regularly. I think BCR must love me as my medication is so very expensive but they always make sure they have money to keep me fit and well.
Now I have put on some weight and have a very shiny healthy looking coat that others can be jealous of!
I love the lazer pen and will play with toys on my own terms.
I can be feisty at times but I absolutely adore Alfie. He is my safe human and I love to snuggle with him at night.
P.S I like to think I am the boss!!

Fantastic charity to be a part of fostering this little baby Beauty. Nikki, Emma and the other trustees are brilliant in communicating updates and making sure all fosters are well stocked with food, litter and toys galore for the fur babies. It’s wonderful to feel so involved and supported being new to Byfleet village, all of us coming together to support the cause in making sure no cats and kittens are left out on the streets cold and hungry. Well done BCR! I hope the charity grows from strength to strength 🐾 Georgie xPosted on Vicki JohnsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I became a kitty Foster mum just before Christmas for the BCR. An amazing team of people doing fantastic things to help the feline population. Making the jump to become a Foster mum was made so easy by the team. Lots of daily support accessible if I need it. Our kitty arrived with all the necessities for her stay. I would definitely Foster from BCR again.Posted on Lindsay DruckmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am a volunteer foster carer for Byfleet Cat Rescue. Currently we have one cat staying with us until she is ready for adoption, this is our 3rd foster cat with Byfleet Cat Rescue. Nikki, Emma and the team at Byfleet Cat Rescue do a fantastic job reuniting, rescuing, fostering and rehoming cats and kittens. A small but very friendly rescue who always have the cats best interest at heart.
